A quick salute to two players after last night’s FA Cup match against Fulham. What they did to give us a shot at the Cup:
- Gomes
- An early save, at full stretch, to deny Zamora a goal which could have changed the outcome of the match.
- A point-blank header by Gera denied early in the 2nd half; quick reflexes and mighty-quick thinking.
- Denies Duff at full stretch… not only blocking the ball but catching it. Quality!
- Palacios
- He was everywhere at the right time. If a Fulham play was broken up, it seemed Palacios was somewhere in the frame.
- Controlled his instincts to slide in for tackles, instead just timing his tackles to avoid a yellow card and being extremely effective.
So we didn’t walk away with the win, but at least we’re taking it back to the Lane. For the rest of the squad, I wasn’t overly impressed with the lot of them, although Bale still managed to maintain an impressive string of consistent performances. We’re still in it!
COYS!

Palacios was great last night and Gomes dipped in at the right moments with crucial saves.
All that possession but no real chances created. Still we have another opportunity!

Should point out that Honduras is more North America, El Wehbi but I’ll let you off!
Pal, Gomes and Bale were our best players in an underwhelming game
Should do them a WHL and follow up with Pompey at Wembley…very tasty

Hope some of our injured players return for that game and then off to Wembley we go.
Who other than Jenas is coming back! PhisioRoom has Lennon come back on 17th of march! can it be true? Just hoping we wont lose any of the three other midfielders.
the important question now for me is when is the best game for Palacios to get a yellow!!!

Mac: Another opportunity welcomed with open arms!
Spud: Excuse my lack of geographical knowledge… I have been humbled.
Bash: Not sure about Jenas or Lennon’s return dates… So much speculation out in the news. In regards to Palacios, the best game to get a yellow? NONE!

Eventually he will, Sitting on 9 yellows will affect the way he plays. With the fixtures we have and the injuries it has to be planned for I think.

Does the league yellows count for the Cup?

Also Lennon they said had to rest 6 more weeks so 17 march dosen’t seem right . Not sure if Jenas will be any good coming back from an op and confidence shitty but hopefully Hudd will make the replay. This groin problem is really messing up the season, Woodgate, Lennon, Bentley, don’t remember groins being major injuries in the past

Spud: Cheers! Loving what I’m seeing so far on the blog!
Bash: You’re right, it should be planned for. What that plan is exactly, I have no idea. But he definitely played really well against Fulham, without extracting that yellow. Let’s hope there’s more of that to come.
SpursLA: Unfortunately, the yellow would count.
