Could we be on the verge of signing Portsmouth midfielder, Nico Kranjcar? Was on Dear Mr. Levy and noticed that on the side column Mr. Spooky mentioned that the Kranjcar deal is “done and dusted”. I thought about it for a while and came up with my own reasoning for why it could be true and how it would a viable option for Harry at this point.
Experience
- Kranjcar has been playing in the Premier League since 2006. He very well understands the pace of the game and won’t be caught with his pants down.
- He has English Cup experience under his belt, winning the FA Cup in 2008 with Portsmouth.
- Represented his national team, Croatia, at both the Euro and World Cup displaying some great performances.
Familiarity
- His Croatian teammates, Modric and Corluka, are members of the starting squad at Spurs. They would help him feel right at home so it is an attractive prospect for him in that sense.
- Previously played under Harry at Portsmouth and understands his management style well.
Respect for the Manager
- Harry was a key factor for Nico remaining at Portsmouth. Unfortunately for him though, Harry took off when Spurs came a knockin’. Now he wants out.
O’Hara’s Loan
- Could be one of the major reasons why we loaned O’Hara to Portsmouth. Kevin-Prince Boateng was sold but maybe they felt it wasn’t enough if they were going to let go of Kranjcar; hence the O’Hara deal.
Obviously I am speculating, but it would be interesting to see if this deal actually goes through. What do you think?

The Kranjcar deal is done. Nico is a great addition to this squad. He brings a big body to the midfield, he is very creative on the ball and a very good passer. He hasn’t really been on form for about a half a year but I attribute that to him wanting out of Pompey (who can blame him, they are horrible). He should be able to help fill in for Luca for the next 6-8 weeks (along with Gio and maybe Bentley). Question, what does the midfield look like when Modric comes back? We will have a nice rotation at both midfield and at striker. Great deal!
Do you think we are done now?

I think he’s a great addition too TJ. I’ve seen what he is capable of and he’s quite skillful at only 25 yrs of age. He and Modric play together on the national team and have a great understanding of each other which should be of great benefit to us. Our midfield might very well be one of the most potent in the league now when you consider Hudd, Palacios, Jenas, Modric, Lennon, Nico, O’Hara (loan), Bentley, Gio (depending on where he’s played) and kids like Livermore.
I was still hoping we would secure a central defender and another Palacios type player. But all in all, I think we are done now and we should be quite pleased with Harry and Levy’s efforts.
COYS!!! Cheers for dropping by.
