Bent Terminology

Supposedly today, Wednesday, is the day Bent will be taking his medical at Sunderland.

I would like to mention that I liked Bent as a player but I always felt he was missing “oomph“. I mean, I was definitely a bandwagon fan – loved him when he scored and loathed him when he missed. The problem with Bent is simple: he scored 20 goals last season. Great accomplishment right? Yet I didn’t really care! Why you ask? It’s the way he performs on the pitch; his game is way too lazy for me. Even the way he poaches goals… always lacking flair.

So I thought I should look up “flair” in the dictionary to see if I define it differently than others and I stumbled onto something very interesting. Ready?

The definition is as follows: “a natural talent, aptitude, or ability; bent; knack: a flair for writing rhymes.”

What’s this??? His name is in the actual definition of the word?

Then I scrolled down to the synonyms listing and guess what word I found: ”Synonyms: chic, dash, panache, verve; oomph, pizazz.”

Oomph! The very quality I have been searching for in a forward. Too bad I found it in an online dictionary and never in Bent. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.
